Diseases We Pursue

There are many diseases that are linked to Benzene exposure.  Our law firm specializes in the following diseases which are most common:

a.     Acute Myelogenous Leukemia (AML). This type of leukemia is a bone cancer where cancerous cells are found in the bone marrow and blood. The symptoms are patients with a low cell red blood count, fatigue, shortness of breath, and a pale or sickly complexion.

b.     Acute Lymphocytic Leukemia (ALL). This type of leukemia occurs in the lymphocytes and the surrounding bone marrow. Lymphocytes are white blood cells which produce antibiotics and which are vital to the immune system. Symptoms of ALL include shortness of breath, pale or sickly complexion, anemia, fatigue and excessive bruising.

c.     Chronic Myelogenous Leukemia (CML). This type of leukemia occurs when the white blood cells are weakened or lessened due to their working overtime defending the body against germs. White blood cells are the type of cells that kill most forms of bacteria and are essential to the correct function of the lymphocytes, which produces the antibodies in the body. CML symptoms develop slowly and also include fatigue, shortness of breath, and sickly complexion.

d.     Hodgkins Disease. This is another type of blood cancer which affects the lymphatic tissue. Hodgkin’s Disease causes the lymph nodes to enlarge and push against other organs. Remember, the lymph nodes are smaller organs that make white blood cells. Symptoms include night sweats, unexplained fever, breathlessness, being tired all the time.
